First Tune/Maxwell's Lullabies is a program being installed in hospital maternity wards throughout the U.S. When a baby is born, the mother or father gets to press a button under a poster of the First Tune animals. This triggers a tape machine which plays a 10 second part of Maxwell's Lullaby through the hospital intercom system. This tune lets everyone know that a baby has been brought into the world and brings cheer to staff and patients. The mother is given a copy of the CD of the eight lullabies which were written and performed by Mark Maxwell, a classical guitarist residing in Athens, GA. The CD has been known to quiet more than one discontented baby, including my own numerous years ago.
